Here’s How to Find What Sets You Apart On Social Media
In the world of social media, it is really easy to get in our own heads, compare ourselves to others and wonder why anyone would choose us over our competitors. Every time I come across this I’m always led back to the same piece of advice: people decide to work with YOU because of YOU.
You might be hesitant to put your face out there or make content about you. It might feel like you’re bragging or have a big ego. But the reason why telling your story is so important is because people are going to choose you over someone else because they feel like they know you and eventually can trust you. And they can't know you if you don't share who you are.
This means that people are NOT going to hire you if they don't feel like they KNOW you.
I often coach clients on their mindset and dig into why they aren't comfortable putting themselves out there. (And I totally get it! I refused to have any photos of me on version 1.0 of my website.)
I specifically remember working with one client on her content. She said, "But aren't I supposed to make my clients the hero? It's not supposed to be about me." Yes, you should have content that makes your clients or potential clients the hero. BUT as a small business owner, you also need content that is going to create know, like and trust. Ultimately, YOU are the thing that is going to set you apart from your competitors. So, you have to tell YOUR story too.
In the currently crowded online digital space, the thing that will set you apart is leaning in to who you are and sharing your story.

Share clearly what sets you apart from others in your niche
Share what it’s like to work with you
Share why you do what you do
Keep in mind that sharing your story doesn’t mean you have to reveal every personal thing about you and your life. You get to decide what you want your target audience to see.
