The Power of Planning

You’re not alone if you've set goals for your business to show up on social media, and then not finished what you started. Yes, you might start off strong! You might even post on social media every day for a few weeks but after a busy season, you fall off track. Social media drops to the bottom of the never ending to-do list and never gets done.

Trust me, I’ve seen it all! I’ve realized that the reason why so many business owners fall off their social media consistency, is because they never had a solid plan to begin with. Like anything in life, if you don’t have a plan, it’s not going to happen. If you don’t create a plan to reach your goals, it’s likely you will never get there.

The best thing you can do is not change your social media strategy, now. But instead use these next few weeks of the year to plan your strategy for the new year. Yes, you read that right. Keep posting what you have been posting. In other words, don’t try and develop a new plan and implement it at the same time. But use this time to put together your plan for next year. That way you can start off the new year strong!

Some of the things you can spend this time working on are:

  • Who you are trying to reach and speak to

  • What social media channels you should be on (don’t try and be on them all!)

  • Determining what days of the week you will show up

  • What format of content you enjoy most and want to focus on

  • Creating branded Canva or graphic templates

  • Getting photographs taken or finding some stock online (here is my favorite source

  • Writing blogs

  • Recording videos

  • Writing captions

  • Scheduling posts
